3 Things That I Learned This Week
Each & every Sunday I spend time reflecting on my week and then planning for the week ahead.
So I wanted to share some of the top few wins & lessons for my past week.
1. Evening Routine
Alot of things are written about a morning routing and the importance of that (we can discuss that another day), but what I have found that a morning routine is important, an evening routine is just as important.
What’s in an evening routine?
Here is what I do:
In addition to just overall reflection on the day, I go through and write down:
- the 3 things that I learned that day
- the 3 wins for the day
- 3 to 5 experiences for the day
- how did I spend my time and is it in alignment with my goals
- how can I get better
- And last — when I wake up in the morning I want to feel…..
I use The Self Journal AND an evernote template (if you want the evernote template — send me a message and ask — will be happy to send it over).
2. Focus on the 3 items that you HAVE to do daily
This past week was really interesting. We got hammered with snow and cold weather which in turn my kids didn’t have school ALL week (and internet was out and intermittent all week). So my normal schedule was completely messed up. Which forced me to focus only on the top key items daily and for the week.
And you know the interesting thing? I got more done and worked less and spent a lot of time with my kids (which was amazing….)
When working on limited time — it is interesting how you can get everything done in a shorter window. Focus on the 3 items that only you can do daily and put a start time and an end time to everything.
3. Patience & Determination
Patience when owning a business is critical. Things break, shit happens, etc….
Things don’t always go the way you want them too. Does that mean you give up, throw in the towel and do something else? Of course not! The biggest thing is learning from what is happening and improve.
Too many business owners get emotionally tied to things and if things don’t go their way (ads don’t work immediately, sales aren’t where they want them to be, email went out with a typo), they come up with millions of excuses INSTEAD of learning from it and moving on in a positive way…
But realize patience and determination are crucial to growth
Have a great rest of your Sunday!
