Some Stuff I’m Thinking About — 4.29.23
As a lifelong learner and someone who enjoys exploring the depths of human experiences, I often find my thoughts wandering across various domains. Art, literature, recent events, and the occasional inspirational quote all have a way of capturing my attention.
Today, I’d like to share with you three seemingly unrelated thoughts that have been occupying my mind recently and I hope you like them. As we delve deeper into their meanings, I believe we’ll find a connection between them, shedding light on the intricacies of life and the human condition.
1. “I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart. I am. I am. I am.” — Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath’s captivating work, The Bell Jar, follows the story of a young woman struggling with her mental health. This quote, in particular, highlights the importance of self-awareness and self-acceptance. It urges us to acknowledge our existence, embrace our vulnerabilities, and celebrate the simple fact that we are alive.
In our fast-paced world, it’s all too easy to become lost in our daily routines and external pressures.
However, taking a moment to truly listen to ourselves and appreciate our own presence can lead to a deeper understanding of our desires, values, and ultimately, our purpose.
