Some Stuff I’m Thinking About — 5.27.23
As an entrepreneur or business owner, it may feel like you’re standing before a vast ocean, staring at the infinite horizon. On one side, there are endless waves of tasks, problems, and opportunities that keep coming towards you. On the other side, there’s you — with only a finite amount of time and energy to tackle them.
Here’s an unvarnished truth — there is always more to do, and no tool can fix that. It’s not the most motivational line you’ll hear today, but embracing this truth is the first step towards genuine productivity.
Life is an ever-changing puzzle. We plan, schedule, execute, and in the midst of it all, reality tosses us unexpected curveballs. As entrepreneurs, we must understand the dynamism of life and business, and sometimes, the only tool at our disposal is acceptance. Accept that you can never finish everything, but you can always do something.
Don’t succumb to the delusion of omnipotence. Instead, recognize the limits of your capacity and focus on what’s truly essential. In the words of the renowned businessman, Warren Buffet, “The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”
