The Ultimate Marketing Dilemma
Marketing over the years has tremendously improved in so many ways in terms of reaching out to consumers or audience. But there seems to be a never-ending challenge in marketing as times progresses no matter how innovative an era is. For instance, one of the major challenges of modern marketers is that ads are being skipped or worst, ignored. Yep, that includes me.
Who wants to read a boring product’s feature that solves nothing or watch some terribly written video scripts while in the middle of watching a tutorial on cooking a poached egg, right? It doesn’t have to be bland and boring since that’s what copywriters are there for. Having a distinct and persuasive copy is a great advantage because it allows your brand to be advertised in a manner where an average person without any “pain” to take action in an instant.
I have an award-winning product or content. How do I market it?
One surefire way to make your brand well-known is partnering with marketing agencies or media publishers. It doesn’t only provide the exposure it needs, but also capture the attention of potential paying customers through a wide variety of advertising platforms.
But of course, having a dynamic relationship with a marketing agency or media publishers STILL isn’t a guarantee for a successful marketing. If you are still a struggling marketer, perhaps my 4 methods would help you in overcoming every known dilemma that you have.
Method 1 — There’s no over-the-counter magic pill.
This sounds cliche but it’s the hard truth. There’s no easy button that you can press that gets you to overnight superstardom status. It’s a long road to success buddy. There are no shortcuts, cheat codes, or detours when travelling to Successville. You have to endure EVERYTHING.
The good side. You get to gain extensive knowledge through bittersweet experiences which you can use to avoid stumbling on the same road humps. You get to expand your network which is necessary if you want your brand to be successful.
The bad side. It would take you time to at least establish a solid ground for yourself to be properly called a successful marketer.
Method 2 — The all-time favourite: “testing, testing and more testing”.
From landing pages, posters, to headlines, content and everything in between. Make it a habit to test in order to see what works and what doesn’t.
Confusing as it may seem, but you wouldn’t exactly know how your strategy would look like unless you try it. Do not be afraid to fail because that is the only way to progress.
Still wondering how your strategy would look like in the real world? Let these 3 simple steps help you lessen the fear of failure.
Goal
This should help you lay down the foundation for testing. Ask yourself “What is the objective of this test? What is it trying to accomplish?”
Problem
After understanding the goal, the next crucial step is to ask the “why” part of the goal and form a hypothesis by creating possible answers to the question.
Solution
Once the problem has been identified, you can create a solution by formulating the answer through “how.”
The good side. Even though you’ve failed, at least you’ll know what will work or will not moving forward.
The bad side. Time consuming and tedious, yes. But that’s the only way to know if what you’re doing is to your advantage or not.
Method 3 — Play the analytics game.
This is the part where you measure, manage and analyze your marketing performance. It allows you to gather all the data regardless of how it performed in order to fully understand what everything is so that you can formulate a much better strategy in the future.
Understanding marketing analytics allows a marketer to be more efficient in doing their jobs and minimize wasted time, effort and money.
The good side. You can save as much as 50% of everything since you’re able to come up with a new and effective strategy based off of the old one that didn’t work.
The bad side. It’ll certainly take time to fully absorb the data. Not to mention a possibility of a splitting headache after seeing the numbers.
Method 4 — Possess a patience like a monk.
Meditation not necessarily required but is optional. With all the planning, testing and analyzing you have to do just to make sure you’ll have a guaranteed successful marketing campaign. It’s a no-brainer that the only thing left is to wait for the results.
Take note, results WILL vary since it’s based on the efforts you put in. The harder and smarter you work, the creamier your fruits of labor shall bear. Be patient ALWAYS. Even if you think you’ll never make it, NEVER push the reset button! You’ll never know it’s really over until the fat lady sings.
The good side. You get to practice patience even more. It won’t only make you a good marketer but overall a better person. After all, patience is a virtue.
The bad side. None.
